Arrests made as details emerge of another sex grooming investigation in Rochdale

From the Manchester Evening News. No names yet, not until they are charged. I suspect they won’t be Chapel folk.

A number of suspects have been arrested and interviewed concerning allegations made by a number of women in the town between 2002 and 2004.

Detectives involved in Operation Lytton have declined to reveal the full scope of their inquiry but it is understood their investigation has made significant progress. The allegations they have been examining concern events which pre-date the vile abuse committed by the infamous Rochdale child sex grooming gang led by Shabir Ahmed, known as ‘Daddy’.

Operation Lytton is one of 49 current child sexual exploitation cases being investigated across Greater Manchester in which police have identified 271 victims and 300 suspects. A number of arrests have been made in Op Lytton although it is believed these were some time ago. This investigation is continuing.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: “Op Lytton is one of a number of ongoing major investigations into child sexual exploitation across Greater Manchester. This is a complex criminal investigation into non-recent abuse committed in Rochdale between 2002 and 2006. A number of arrests and interviews have already taken place and the investigation continues.

“Due to the sensitivities associated with offences of this nature, victims are at the forefront of our investigation and it would be inappropriate to release any further information at this time.”

The emergence of Operation Lytton was reported by The Mill. A small local outlet, but they reporting is enough to alert the bigger boys. No progress so far as we know towards the deporting the primemovers of the biggest case who are still roaming the town, shopping in ASDA and presumably worshipping at the usual mosque.
