As Long as the Enemy Propaganda Continues–so Will I

By Phyllis Chesler

Yes, like you, I’m exhausted by covering, documenting, and crying out against the cognitive war against Israel, the Jews, the West, and the Truth.

  1. A descent into paranoia is a common consequence of denying reality. Hence, we are invited to conflate Israel, the Jews, the West, and the Truth itself (sic) as the targets of a “cognitive war”. Chesler’s desperation to shore up her world view is palpable. I’ll say it again: the behaviour of the Netanyahu regime is doing immense harm to Israel’s standing in the world. And the propaganda machine which decrees that any criticism of Israel is “anti-semetic” is exhausting the patience of many of us who naturally tend towards supporting Israel.

The fact is that you can’t fool all the people all the time. You don’t have to subscribe to the rubbish produced by the likes of a Sari Bashi to be concerned about the direction the current Israeli regime is taking. The evidence comes straight out of the proverbial horse’s mouth. National security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir declares that the Palestinians are “sub-humans”. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich calls them “two-legged animals” and promises to “erase the Palestinian state”.
Other senior members of the Israeli government talk openly of “cleansing” Gaza; they speak of mass deportations and camps for the beleaguered civilian population; not to mention approving policies of deliberate starvation. Meanwhile, Israel lays waste to the countries around it. All of this is cheered on as part of the “Greater Israel” project.

Anyone familiar with 1930s European history will recognize the pattern and the language, as well as the intensity of the propaganda effort to justify it all. In short, the behaviour of Netanyahu’s Israel is ever closer to that of the regime which perpetrated the original Holocaust.
