The Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) reported on Thursday that the terrorist who carried out the attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, is a Lebanese man named Ayman Ghazali, originally from the town of Machghara in the Beqaa Valley.
According to circulating information, Ghazali carried out the shooting in retaliation for the deaths of his two brothers before he was later killed at the scene. Qassem and Ibrahim Ghazali … were killed in an IDF strike on the town last week.
So far, US authorities have not released the terrorist’s identity or any details about him, so this information has not been confirmed by an official source.
The attack occurred at about 1:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, when the attacker crashed his car into the synagogue.
FBI to investigate attack as ‘targeted act of violence’ against Jewish community
Jennifer Runyan, the special agent in charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office, told reporters: “This is a deeply disturbing and tragic incident, and our deepest sympathies are with the victims, their family and the entire Jewish community.
“The FBI is here, working with our state, local and federal partners to investigate this incident, and I can confirm that we are leading the investigation right now as a targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.”
