Barack Obama, Regius Professor Of History

Douglas Murray on the recent lecturing-hectoring by Barack Obama.

They’ve got Jihad, we’ve got the Crusades. What’s the difference? was the same point made in an Op/Ed article, shortly after the 9/11 attacks, by Prof. Roy Mottahedeh. Bernard Lewis shook his head and described that article to me as one that he and many others found “disgraceful” because Mottahedeh of course knew better.

As to Obama, he’s a lot like Professor Irwin Corey, World’s Greatest Authority. But Corey was funny, a figure from the days of Tom Lehrer, Senor Wences, and Sid Caesar and The Show of Shows. When Obama says such things — well, to take the Wayback Machine even further, ‘taint funny, McGee.
