Breaking news in Spain

Sky News is reporting on their 24 hour TV programme that a man wearing a suicide belt has been shot dead in the town of Subirats west of Barcelona this afternoon. The Express has the bare headline on-line. 

Meanwhile Sky is also reporting that the driver of the van who was on the run has been arrested in Spain. At one point he was believed to have crossed the open border into France.

Sky News is now reporting that according to Spanish sources Younes Abouyaaqoub, the jihad gang ringleader, who was on the run, has been shot. Initially it seemed that his apprehension, and the taking out of the man in the suicide belt in Subirats were not the same man/incident. This is not clear. I will keep an eye on the announcments of Mossos the Catalan police and the Catalan government. 

The police have sent a robot to deal with the potential suicide belt. Spanish media are saying this IS Younes Abouyaaqoub but the official sources do not yet confirm.
