British Muslim group aims to oust 14 Tories, including Boris Johnson and PIO Alok Sharma,

The Muslim group is MPACUK (Muslim Public Affairs Committee United Kingdom) I spotted this first in The Times of India, where their interest and concern is that some of the MPs on the list, or subject to previous action, are of Indian ancestry, and thus not badly disposed to India.

The group, which organises boycotts of shops that sell goods  made in Israel, claims it was “the first organisation to remove Islamophobic MPs by utilising the Muslim bloc vote” in t the 2005, 2010 and 2017 UK general elections when it unseated eight MPs, which it describes as a 73% success rate. It even takes credit for current home secretary Priti Patel being forced to quit as international development secretary in 2017.

One does have to take boasts with a pinch of salt. Priti Patel is now Home Secretary – if that was a victory for MPACUK it bit them on the bottom.

I then went to have a look directly at MPACUK website, and their twitter account. .

Operation Muslim Vote 2019. Unlike some Islamic organisations that tell their devotees that voting is shirk, unislamic and against the will of Allah, MPACUK encourages Muslims to vote in the Muslim interest.

“In 6 weeks time we have an opportunity to kick Islamophobes out of power, including Boris Johnson! Get in touch if you want to help us in our 14 target seats!”

We target marginal seats where the Muslim vote is larger than the current MP’s majority vote. In these seats, Muslim can make a definitive difference and have the biggest voices during and after elections.

We focus entirely on MPs that have a record of advancing Islamophobia and/or working against the Palestinian struggle for freedom. 9 times out of 10, such MPs are usually both.

We are the only Muslim organisation in Europe that conduct national elections campaign in this manner. Whilst other Muslim organisations focus on more generic and national call-to-actions, we focus specifically on constituencies where Muslims can demonstrate a real difference and pragmatic power.

This year we are scaling our operations to campaign in 14 seats. These seats are:

  • Southampton Itchen – Royston Smith – Maj: 31, Muslim Pop: 2777

  • Pudsey – Stuart Andrew – Maj: 331, Muslim Pop: 1640

  • Hastings & Rye – Amber Rudd (Minister of DWP) – Maj: 346, Muslim Pop: 1237

  • Chipping Barnet – Theresa Villers  (Minister for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) -Maj: 353, Muslim Pop: 5619

  • Stoke-on-Trent South – Jack Brereton – Maj: 663, Muslim Pop: 3734

  • Bolton West –  Chris Green – Maj: 936, Muslim Pop: 1825

  • Pendle – Andrew Stephenson – Maj: 1279, Muslim Pop: 15579

  • Harrow East – Bob Blackman – Maj: 1757, Muslim Pop: 13471

  • Milton Keynes South – Iain Stewart – Maj: 1725, Muslim Pop: 5670

  • Milton Keynes North – Mark Lancaster – Maj: 1915, Muslim Pop: 6243

  • Chingford & Woodford Green – Ian Duncan Smith – Maj: 2438, Muslim Pop: 6604

  • Reading West – Alok Sharma (Minister for International Development) – Maj: 2876, Muslim Pop: 5023

  • Uxbridge & Ruislip South – Boris Johnson (Prime Minister)  Maj: 5034, Muslim Pop: 7991

  • Wycombe – Steve Baker – Maj: 6578, Muslim Pop: 14493

We are targeting these Conservative politicians because they have a voting and Parliamentary history of working against the interests of British Muslim communities. All of them can be kicked out by the Muslim vote in these constituencies.

Of course they are not targeting Labour constituencies openly. No need. Too many Labour MPs have faced de-selection because of either being Jewish, expressing any favourable opinion of Israel, or have been replaced with a Muslim candidate after natural retirement.

As Shahid Malik said ten years ago.

“There should be 20 Muslim MPs in Parliament and, inshallah, very shortly we shall see that. And I am confident, as Britain’s first Muslim minister, that inshallah in the next 30 years or so we will see a Prime Minister in this country who happens to share my faith.”

After the 2017 General Election there are 15 Muslim MPs. Mostly Labour. None of which were him.
