Christiane Taubira was appointed to be the Garde des Sceaux (Keeper of the Seals, that is Minister of Justice) by Hollande in a moment of madness. But there she is, in charge, supposedly, of coming up with stricter penal measures. So far all of her policy deplacements have been in the opposite direction. She may chane course, but most reluctantly.
