The death toll in the car blast near Red Fort stands at 13 after a patient, who was in a critical condition, succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday (November 13, 2025), according to a senior police officer. A day after the Centre called the Delhi car blast a ‘terror incident’, Faridabad Police detained a person linked to a second vehicle — a red Ford EcoSport — in connection with the explosion. The man allegedly parked the car, owned by Umar Nabi, in Khandawali village in Haryana.
Earlier in the day, police sources confirmed that Nabi, the doctor from J&K’s Pulwama teaching at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University, was driving the car that exploded near Red Fort. The DNA samples of Umar’s mother were collected on Tuesday (November 11) and analysed along with the remains gathered from the blast site.
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained a medical student from Kanpur in connection with the ongoing investigation into the recent Delhi blast, officials said on November 13, 2025. The doctor, identified as Dr Mohammad Arif, 32, a first-year DM (Cardiology) student at the State-run Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College, was taken into custody from an undisclosed location, a senior official told PTI.
The doctors arrested in connection with the “white-collar terror module” had raised more than ₹26 lakh to procure materials used in the deadly blast near Red Fort, an official said on Thursday.
The four suspects — including Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr Shaheen Sayeed and Dr Umar Nabi — had pooled in the amount in cash, which was handed over to Dr Umar for safekeeping and operational use, they said. Dr Umar — who hailed from Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama and was an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad — was behind the wheels of the Hyundai i20 that exploded in the busy Red Fort area on Monday evening. Investigators believe the fund was linked to a larger terror conspiracy.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) (local time) called the blast which took place in Delhi on Monday (November 10, 2025) evening to ‘clearly’ be a ‘terrorist attack’. He praised the country’s professionalism in handling the investigation.

In a major intelligence breakthrough, agencies have uncovered critical details about Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) top commander, Dr Shaheen, who operated under the code name ‘Madam Surgeon.’ Shaheen, known for her recruitment operations, was referred to by this alias among her close associates and fellow Jaish operatives involved in the terror outfit’s radicalisation activities across India.
Sources reveal that Dr Shaheen was orchestrating a covert radicalisation initiative called ‘Operation Hamdard,’ designed to lure young Muslim women and girls into extremism under the guise of sympathy and empowerment. The operation used a psychological manipulation model that targeted vulnerable sections of society.
Investigative agencies have decoded several encrypted conversations in which ‘Team D,’ allegedly led by Dr Shaheen, was actively planning recruitment and logistics for Jaish-e-Mohammed. Members of Team D were mostly medical professionals who used coded terms in their communication to disguise their operations.
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has now placed Team D under close surveillance. The agency has been examining the financial transactions of Dr Parvez and Dr Arif, both alleged associates of Dr Shaheen.
The Delhi Police, while investigating the Red Fort blast case that claimed 12 lives, have gathered CCTV footage from nearly 50 locations across the city, tracing the detailed movements of the key accused, Dr Umar . . . first spotted in the South-East District . . . returned to the Central District, where he was seen visiting a mosque. His last known stop was the Red Fort parking area in the North District.
In a parallel development, agencies probing the case recovered diaries belonging to Dr Umar and co-accused Dr Muzammil. The entries, dated between November 8 and 12, reference detailed planning leading up to the blast. The diaries also contain the names of around 25 individuals, most reportedly from Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad, suggesting the existence of a coordinated terror network.
