Donald Trump, The Republican Party and The Media

For weeks now, I have been listening now to the mainstream media disparage not just Donald Trump, but anyone who would consider voting for him. It’s not enough that the media jumps on everything Trump says and does, but they also feel the need to characterize Trump supporters as an uneducated, easily led mob, fearful of the wonderful new multicultural country brought to them by the Democratic Party and the Immigration Act of 1965, followed by the open borders policy of every President since. We’re sternly lectured from the left and right about “who we are” and how we should be content in the “new economy” which means an economy where everyone should be satisfied working two or three low-wage part-time jobs, if such jobs are to be found, just to make ends meet. If you complain about the immigration flood pushing down wages, you’re xenophobic and therefore unfit for polite discourse. If you worry about terrorism and Islamization, you’re an “Islamophobe” and beyond the pale by definition. Trump supporters must therefore be unfit to vote according to most news reporters who feel the need to lecture us on just how “bad” Trump is night and day.

In my estimation, Donald Trump has run a brilliant campaign. At the time of this writing he is pivoting to take on Mrs. Clinton (she attacked him first) and is already branding her as a liar – the first of several words which will come to define Clinton just as “low energy” came to define Jeb Bush. The mainstream media is constantly hoping Trump will use immoderate language so as to hurt his campaign, but observing him over the past few months, I believe he chooses his words very carefully and is not sloppy with language at all. He just uses words which don’t fall into the usual grooves of accepted political speech and that is exactly why they are so memorable.

No one seems to be discussing the fact that Trump is utterly re-defining the Republican Party. When he faces Clinton in the fall, he will be the one who was against the Iraq invasion while she voted for it.  He will be the one actually “resetting” the relationship with Russia and will propose a strategic partnership to contain Islamization and defeat Islamic terrorism. He will be the one fighting for the blur-collar middle class and proposing ways to bring American jobs back. The Democrats have abandoned their traditional base in the rush to cobble together a patchwork of minority interests. That is why Trump will sweep the Independents and many Democrats as well. The Republican Party will have been remade.

Right now the mainstream media and Republican establishment are grasping at straws in the desperate hope Trump will stumble  – the latest one being that maybe all those people who brave the cold and wet and stand for hours to hear Trump speak will just blow off voting. “We don’t know if this will translate into actual votes.” If wishes were horses….

  1. Will he label Hillary as the enabler of her husband’s sexual misconduct including the forcible rape of Juanita Brodderick?

  2. It is typical that all the wrong people get voted as personalities of this year. Or at least they win some kind of peace prize.
