Eight people have been reported as injured in an attack described by police as terrorism in southern Sweden.

A man attacked eight people with a weapon and was later taken into custody after being shot by police in the southern city of Vetlanda, police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.

The crime was at first classified as attempted murder but was later re-classified as suspected terrorism.

Police have not confirmed the type of weapon used in the attack. Other news outlets speak of ‘a blade‘ and ‘an axe’, and  stabs ‘in the neck’.

According to the police report, the first calls about the attack came shortly before 3pm, with the first patrol arriving on the scene at 3.10pm. Shortly after that, the suspect was shot and arrested, and at 6.47pm police announced the reclassification of the case as suspected terrorism. They said there was no indication of further suspects being involved in the attack

According to Swedish newspaper the Aftonblade, police spokesperson Angelica Israelsson Silfver said ”Some are seriously injured and some are slightly injured, but no one is dead.”

  1. “…suspected terrorism.” What’s the doubt that justifies ‘suspected’? How about using the term ‘actual injurious intense dislike of another human (innocent) being? Does the term ‘sadistic’ apply to the injuries incurred? Were the injured all masochists who’d requested being injured to savor the thrill of terror? Are the reporters of the incident qualified, certified AI emotionless entities? Who’s on first?

  2. Now, a day after the attack, the Swedish police still have not revealed the type of weapon used to produce the injuries, whether pointed screwdriver, sharp-edged blade, blunt surface soft foam club, lady’s slipper, Louisville Slugger, or supersonic-powered verbal insult shock wave. Is a coverup to be expected in this cold weather? Was the ‘weapon’ found but unidentifiable due to its extraterrestrial origin and design?
