Eric Schmidt Of Google On The Future Of The Internet

Schmidt gave a speech at Davos, claiming that because the Internet would be everywhere — like Flaubert’s demiurge, “present partout, visible nulle part” and so much a part of our lives, that it would in a sense — his Schmidtian sense — cease to exist.

From the report on his speech:

“Here’s a reason to breathe a sigh of relief: Schmidt expanded on his comments, saying that the Internet will become so seamlessly integrated into our daily lives that it will simply fade into the background.

As wearables gain traction and our homes become smarter and more connected, Schmidt sees a future where the Internet is all around us.

“It will be part of your presence all the time,” Schmidt said, according to CNET. “Imagine you walk into a room, and the room is dynamic. And with your permission and all of that, you are interacting with the things going on in the room.”

Noted. But what if, as the writer Yuri Olesha put as the first sentence of his Envy — “things don’t like me” (???? ?? ????? ????). Then what, gospoda?
