European Parliament Calls for Arms Embargo Against Saudi Arabia

This will just make the Sunni states even more paranoid than they are now. Iran is, of course, backing the Shi’a Houthi rebels in Yemen fighting against the Saudi-backed Sunni government forces. This looks like another tilt by the Western world toward Iran. BRUSSELS (Reuters)

The European Parliament called on the European Union to impose an arms embargo against Saudi Arabia on Thursday, saying Britain, France and other EU governments should no longer sell weapons to a country accused of targeting civilians in Yemen.

EU lawmakers voted 359 in favor, 212 against and with 31 abstentions for the formal call for an EU arms embargo.

Although the vote is not legally binding, lawmakers hope it will pressure the European Union to act.

Nearly 6,000 people have been killed in Yemen since Saudi-led forces began military operations in Yemen in March last year, according to the United Nations.

  1. Of course, the truly radical thing would be to impose an arms embargo – and for that matter, a trade embargo – on *both* Iran *and* Saudi Arabia… and every *other* majority-Muslim member of the OIC.

    Cut the b*st*rds off.

STOP allowing them to buy up liquid or illiquid assets in *any* non-Muslim country. No hotels no shops no shares in media companies no more ‘donations’ to Universities (or anything else) with sticky Islamic strings attached.

    Time to cut. them. off.
