Five people are injured after car ploughs into pedestrians on busy London broadway – as Somalia-born British man, 34, is held on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving

But it isn’t terrorism. Not at all.  Just an ordinary, nothing to worry about, attempt at murder.  Part and parcel of everyday life in a big city.

From the Daily Mail

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a vehicle hit multiple pedestrians on a busy London road before driving away, police have said.

Five people were injured with three taken to hospital after the incident on Ealing Broadway, Ealing, west London, at about 2.30pm on Saturday.

Pictures from the scene showed a large emergency response, with one victim sitting on a kerb as he was treated by paramedics.

Footage appears to show bystanders trying to stop the car before chasing after it and attempting to open the door as it sped away.

Emergency services were pictured at the scene

A witness on a local Ealing Facebook group said the car ‘came out of nowhere’ before hitting people waiting at a pedestrian crossing.

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial inquiries, but the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

The Somalia-born British driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder, the Metropolitan Police said. He did not wait at the scene but was stopped in nearby Grange Park ‘a short time later’, the force added.

The force said: ‘Due to the nature of the incident, local officers were in contact with officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London as they conducted their initial enquiries. While investigators are keeping an open mind as to any potential motive, the incident is not being treated as terrorism.”

Not terror – merely terrifying. Thankfully no serious injuries this time.
