Homo Kaplanensis: “Europe Was Defined By Islam. And Islam Is Redefining It Now.”

by Hugh Fitzgerald (May 2016)

Robert Kaplan, a contributing editor to The Atlantic, has just published a piece on Islam and the future of Europe. 1. The young Kaplan, travelling through Europe w/a well-thumbed copy of Gibbon in his knapsack, wrote some interesting, sometimes prescient books. I’ve read most of them. As time has gone by his analytic powers have declined as his popularity in D.C. has grown. It’s an occupational hazard that affects many, many people. Which is why publications like NER and JihadWatch are so important.
