Incoherent Roger Cukierman, Identifies The Problem, Misidentifies The Solution

Here.

Cukierman is the president of CRIF, an organization that, supposedly, represents organized French Jewry (that part which wishes to be organized and consider itself a “community”). He’s properly identified Muslims, mostly “young” Muslims, as the source of the antisemitic acts from which French Jews are now suffering, and will suffer a lot more.

But he then adds  that he could never ever vote for the FN, despite Marine Le Pen being “personally irreproachable.” Why is that? Because, “behind her,” are all those Holocaust-deniers (“negationnistes”), those would-be-collaborators (“Vichystes” and “Petainistes”). Is he quite sure that with the replacement of Jean-Marie Le Pen, and the removal of others of his ilk, that the FN is simply beyond the pale? If it is beyond the pale could it not be supported if only in order to force the other parties to move rightward, and especially the UMP, whose putative leader Sarkozy has told his followers never ever to make deals with the FN. Everyone wants to remain so morally and politically pure. Who else has forthrightly demanded a halt to Muslim immigration into France? What other party would make the practice, the observance, of Islam as difficult as possible?

Questions — not for the first time — for study and discussion.
