“The Republican electorate is not a bunch of completely ignorant fools. We know who Donald Trump is and we’re going to use Donald Trump to either take over the G.O.P. or blow it up.”
— Steve from Temecula, Calif.
“You’re gonna change or I’m a gonna leave.”
— Hank Williams
Many conservative pundits have weighed in on Donald Trump’s candidacy for President. National Review hates him and his supporters with the white hot heat of a thousand supernovas and vow to fight him to the bitter end. Pat Buchanan is more reflective and, having more experience in the political world, more sanguine at the prospect of a President Trump, as is Newt Gingrich. more>>>

One Million Thank Yous ! there couldn not be a better testament to who Trump is and Why America need him more than ever. Please continue the enlightenment. A Must Read for every citizen of the free world!!!
Elegant and eloquent . . . and decent, which Trump voters could use these days.
Many thanks.
Rebecca, you have gathered your materials together and have put them in a focused and cogent read. I commend you on that ability and thank you for bringing this light to us “bitter clingers” and such others that the Republican establishment takes for granted and so misunderstand.
On the other hand:
The rest of my post: “I have always been of the mind that in a democracy manners are the only . . . thing that will save us from barbarism.” __ James Russell Lowell, Letters, II< March 4, 1873.
Rebecca, you certainly have nailed it. The Trump supporters I have spoken to have one overarching concern : the survival of the historic American nation.
Trump attracts those people who understand that they have been sold out, over and over and over.
Is Trump destroying the Republican Party? Let’s hope so.
The Republican Party elite could have stolen Trump’s platform nearly a year ago. But, they couldn’t do it because they don’t believe in it.
The “intelligentsia” of America fiddles while the world burns.
Trump is dead-on about Muslim immigration, less so on Mexican immigrants as a whole, and he indeed broke the deadlock on politically correct discourse.
Ms. Bynum nails the failures, the utter bankruptcy, of theGOP brilliantly. But I fear the Trump’s refusal thus far to speak about policy in an sort of systematic way has and will perhaps terminally doom his candidacy. We are in the Wild West of political leadership, with an utterly uncertain ending.
If the “elite” is not for herself who will be for her!!!!
Good get, Rebecca. Who, with a modicum of common sense, thinks that the solution to religious dystopia there believes that that the cure is more unvetted Muslims here?
