Ivan Rioufol: The French State In Retreat Before Its Domestic Enemy

It is the Muslims who appear to be winning, for the French State doesn’t dare take them on as it should and must. 1. In spite of the general clarity of Manuel Valls on the perils of an unassimilated Islam, the Hollande government as a whole seems incapable of calling a spade a spade. Of course, Cameron is going down this same road of insisting that the Muslim populations of their two nations, both of which are well stocked with average, everyday Muslim supremacists, couldn’t possibly be fertile ground for ISIS?

What now? More terrorist outrages that will lead the French public to vote the FN into office? Hugh, I hope you’re right about Sarkozy – the seemingly chastened and candid Sarkozy.
