Liverpool University POSTPONES 7 October Palestine bake sale after JN expose

It’s only postponed mind you, and the nasty wicked little mind that decided to taunt mourning Jews on the second anniversary of the massacre, within hours of the funerals of the men murdered by Jihad the jihadi at Heaton Park synagogue last week is still around. The event has been ‘postponed’; the organisors will carry on as usual. Because it was oh, so innocent, no?

From Jewish News.

A bake sale for Palestine scheduled for the second anniversary of the 7 October Hamas atrocities has been postponed by The University of Liverpool students’ union following an intervention by Jewish News.

The Liverpool Guild promoted the ‘Palestine Bake Sale’ with a poster that said “Time for Dessert”, organised by @LivGlobalRelief, a Liverpool University charity society together with @uolbakesoc, the university’s baking society.

It was due to be held on Tuesday 7 October 2025, the day Jewish communities will commemorate the Hamas massacre that claimed the lives of more than 1,200 men, women and children in Israel, with over 250 captives taken into Gaza.

But a University of Liverpool spokesperson confirmed that “following discussions, the organisers of this proposed event have agreed to move this fundraising activity to an alternative date.

Several other pro-Palestine student events are due to go ahead on campuses nationwide, as Jewish News has revealed.

It wasn’t just the date. If one could be sure the money raised really was going to directly aid genuinely sick children,  I don’t think anyone would object to charitable fund raising.  We all suspect that anything raised goes to Hamas. What made this particularly objectionable was the nasty little strapline “Time for dessert”

Ie, on the anniversary of this massacre, there remain more Jews to attack.

It reminds one of the sweets and cake regularly handed out in Muslim areas, but particularly middle eastern areas after many terrorist atrocities, especially but not solely, when the victims were Jewish.

But as the article above says, and others have mentioned other pro-Palestine events will take place at other universities.

Sir Keir Starmer has warned pro-Palestinian activists that “just because there is a freedom to protest” on Oct 7 does not mean it is the right thing to do.

The Prime Minister’s spokesman implored people to show “humanity” and remember the “heinous” Hamas attacks on Israel as he tried to ward off mass protests on the second anniversary of the massacre that sparked the Gaza war.

The rallies are set to take place at universities across the country on Tuesday, two years on from the tragedy that left almost 1,200 people dead and many more injured or kidnapped.

Protest organisers have pledged to continue despite pleas from community leaders, police chiefs and politicians to postpone the events in the wake of the Yom Kippur terror attack on a Manchester synagogue last week.

Sir Keir joined calls to cancel the rallies on Oct 7, warning students that they should not “necessarily” protest just because they are free to do so.

Asked if the protests should go ahead on Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “The demonstrations in support of Palestine Action that we saw over the weekend and have been talked about ahead of tomorrow are going ahead despite the pleas, grief and fears that have been felt by the Jewish community.

“As the Home Secretary said, people should demonstrate humanity. Just because there is a freedom to protest doesn’t mean that you should necessarily go ahead with these gatherings, given the context.

That Keir Starmer and his government have themselves emboldened the demonstrators by their recognition of Palestine, thus rewarding terror and massacres, seems to have escaped them. But painful as it is for our Jewish neighbours it is waking up those members of the public still dozing. And that is the silver lining.

    1. As a former graduate of that dreadful institution I am not suprised that such a vindictive stunt should have been plabned. A total lack of tact and outrage ti common decency. It was no coincidence. And this from so- called intelligent people. Actiin should be taken against the university. This whole business is out of hand.
