Mr Hollande says "these fanatics have nothing to do with Muslim religion’"

1. France now has over 700 no-go zones for Muslims. I think it’s time the French Parliament supplemented their recognition of “Palestine” with a recognition of an Islamic state within France (Gaulstine?), so that the Muslims there feel free from discrimination and can have their own state, just like the Palestinians. Israel can help mediate at the UN.

Did the fanatics — beginning with the Ayatollah Khomeini — who issued a fatwa in Iran against Salman Rushdie, and offered a reward for those who killed him for maligning the Prophet, have anything to do with Islam? Did those who stabbed to death one of Rushdie’s translators, and almost killed another of them, have anything to do with Islam? Were they, in every case, Muslims?

   What about the Muslims all over the world who demonstrated in support of death being meted out to Rushdie — did their murderous rage have anything to do with Islam?

   What about the man who tried to silence critics of Islam, by killing Theo van Gogh for making the movie “Submission” — did his act have anything to do with Islam?

   What about all the Muslims who defended the man who killed Theo van Gogh — did Islam have anything to do with it?

   What about the Muslims in Denmark, and then, whipped up by a particular group of imams living in Denmark, all over the Muslim lands, who demanded that those whio had produced, and those who had published, the cartoons of Muhammad be killed — did their demands, their acts, have anything to do with Islam?

   What about the man who managed to get inside Lars Vilks’s house in order to kill him — did Islam have anything to do with this?

   Did Islam have anything to do with the Islamic State? The killing of Lee Rigby? The World Trade Center bombing? Islam, anywhere? Nowhere? Never?

3. Every time that Hollande, Obama, and other public officials repeat that lie, they undermine public trust and security. People will feel that their government is not looking after them, vote for radical parties, accept a political strong man, take the law into their own hands, or flee the country. They may abandon liberal democracy. We can thank Islam for.that.
