Nottingham attack victim named as police say suspect killed man and used his van to drive at people

I have been following this most of the evening since I got home. The MO shrieks jihad textbook, except 4am isn’t the most likely time for a terrorist attack, and no-one reports any shouts of Allah Akbar. The man arrested, described as black with beard and dreadlocks is (according to GB News) a West African with a history of violence.  Whatever the motive it is a damning indictment of an immigration free for all that lets thousands upon thousands of military age men into the country, with little attempt made to deter them.

Barnaby Webber has been named as one of the victims of the Nottingham attacks – after police said the suspect killed a man in his fifties, stole his van, and used it to drive into people. Two of the victims were earlier confirmed to be 19-year-old students in the city – one of them Mr Webber. The young woman is Grace Kumar.  They both played hockey. Such hopes their parents must have had for them .

Police declared a major incident after the pair were found dead in the street in Ilkeston Road just after 4am. A witness reported seeing a young man and young woman being stabbed there.

Officers were then called to Milton Street, in the city centre, where a driver had tried to run over people in a van. One person is in a critical condition, two others have minor injuries.

The man in his fifties was found dead with knife injuries by a member of the public in nearby Magdala Road.

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody. Video appears to show him on the ground next to the van as officers detained him. Photos of the vehicle show small cracks on the windscreen and apparent damage to the bumper.

Chief Constable Kate Meynell said they believe it was stolen from the middle-aged victim and used to drive at members of the public. Police are working alongside specialist terror officers, but say they are keeping an “open mind” over the motive and are not looking for anyone else.

The first suggestion, until details of the victims and how they were murdered was known, was yet another gang war incident. But two university students on their way home from a night out, a tradesman setting out for an early shift and workers queuing for a bus are unlikely turf war rivals.

Not every newspaper is reporting the physical or ethnic information. The Telegraph is, as is GB News.

Eyewitnesses have described the man as black, with dreadlocks and a beard, and dressed in a hooded top.

GB News understands the 31-year-old suspect is a West African migrant with a history of violence.

A wide range of comments have expressed concern at his background and racial crime and unchecked immigration generally. The UAF are outraged and have warned makers of such comments that the Nottingham antiracists will deal with racism firmly.  One wonders if those naive and well-meaning students who demonstrated that Refugees are Welcome Here are among the grief-stricken faces I saw on TV laying flowers at St Peter’s tonight. And whether dots are being connected yet.
