A Writer Gets it Wrong

When Michael Rectenwald signs his books at NER’s salon today, I hope he won’t make the same mistake as the British author at a similar event in Australia, to whom a young woman, holding a book, said her name and for whom he dutifully wrote on the flyleaf, “Best wishes to Emma Chissit.” She stared at it uncomprehendingly for a moment, then said disgustedly, “Naow. ‘Er much is it?”
