This is the main headline on the GB News website tonight after it was one of the main features in Nigel Farage’s 7pm new show. GB news were alerted by several Chelmsford residents one of whom wrote the report below. That it was to be featured by Nigel Farage and GB News was confidential until tonight; they wanted it to come as a ‘surprise’ to the supine and submissive Chelmsford Council and Essex Council.
98 BRAND NEW LUXURY APARTMENTS IN CHELMSFORD TAKEN OVER BY THE
HOME OFFICE FOR MIGRANT ACCOMODATION
1 Legg Street (King William Court) in Chelmsford city centre is a large five storey former office block that just been redeveloped into 98 brand new luxury apartments. But you won’t find any marketing website advertising them for sale or rent and most, if not all, are already occupied – why? The Home Office has recently taken control of the entire development to house migrants awaiting processing. All trace of the development has been removed from
the internet, the developers marketing websites, and advertisements for the purchase of the properties.
Information obtained suggests that all occupants living at this development have entered the country by illegal means, and that they are free to come and go from the property, only needing to sign in and out.
The migrant crisis is well documented across the country, this is by no means a unique situation. Whilst it is accepted that some are genuine asylum seekers, concerns exist where identities of individuals are unknown, and whether any of them could present a risk or danger to the community.
In June 2023, a man residing at this development, Besin Nezha, was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a woman at the same location. Separately, within the last fortnight, a migrant from Congo who also resides at this address, has allegedly been arrested by Police on two occasions (once for common assault, and again for sexual assault of a female), but has been released back into the community as he is a classed as a “nonperson”. The same individual has since been reported for following and harassing multiple women, one of whom is a Council employee. This comes at a time when Chelmsford City Council are running a Women’s Safety in Our City campaign and formed the Women’s Safety Charter, and to create “safe spaces” for women. So why are the Council ignoring
this?
Unbeknown to most, the Best Western Atlantic Hotel in New St, just a short walk away from Legg Street, has also been housing migrants for some time, despite being advertised as being “closed for refurbishment”. Within the last week, guests staying at this hotel have been moved to the Legg Street development to free up rooms for more new arrivals.
Most local residents will be unaware of the use of both the Atlantic Hotel and the Legg Street development respectively to house migrants, because neither the local authority nor the state want you to know. They do not want you to know who is being housed there, and they do not want you to know whether any of these residents may present a danger to the community.
Within the Chelmsford area we have homeless people on the street, we have families living in sub-standard social housing infested with damp, mould, and unsafe conditions, unable to be relocated due to lack of available housing. Meanwhile migrants who have arrived in the country by illegal means, whose identity and potential criminal past are unknown, are being housed in brand new luxury furnished apartments, provided with money, allowed to come
and go, and all at your expense.
These events should not be concealed, they should not be hidden. Residents of Chelmsford have a right to know what is happening in their city, who is being introduced to their community and whether they present any danger.

Neighbourhood groups in Chelmsford, Essex speak out against the Home Office decision
Campaigners in a cathedral city have condemned the Government after the Home Office approved the acquisition of an entire luxury apartment complex to house asylum seekers.
Dozens of migrants have already moved into the 98 unit development in Chelmsford, Essex, GB News can reveal. The multi-million pound conversion of a former office block has been billed as one of Chelmsford’s most sought after residential complexes.
Local campaign group Baddow and Sandon Neighbourhood Association said many local people were outraged by the move. . . said “more than 400 families in Chelmsford were currently in temporary accommodation and often in very poor quality properties, while people who broke the law were being rewarded with luxury apartments. The word illegal needs to needs to be remembered… They are illegally here and yet they’re living in absolute luxury.
“I think that’s what’s frustrating and annoying so many people, that they’re getting everything and local people are living in some of these places that we see. Last year during the damp and mold, you wouldn’t have put a dog in it because it was disgusting. It was on another level.
Tasha Burgess moved into similarly low-quality social housing in Chelmsford with her young family five years ago. But it took four years, before the family was finally moved out while various problems were fixed.
But not before Tasha and her children developed chronic respiratory ailments. I don’t think it’s fair that they can come over illegally and get placed into apartments,” she said. The film of the state of her flat was sobering. The sort of mould that mere cleaning, and you could see she did a lot of cleaning, won’t make a dent in. It comes from problems beyond the room with the walls, damp course and roof.
The local council said it had only limited grounds for a legal challenge against the Home Office and did not intend to take court action.
But campaigners say the Chelmsford luxury apartment complex cannot be what the Prime Minister meant when he said the Government was committed to more “basic accommodation” for asylum seekers.
The complex does not have planning permission as a hostel and under current good practice 40% should have been set aside as affordable social housing for local working people.
The flats were advertised through an ‘open day’ by the estate agents last autumn. One, two and three bedroom apartments and studios priced from £220,000 ($282,409). I don’t know how the property developers dealt with any hopeful person who placed a deposit at that time. I’m sure it was returned. But would you attempt to buy with them again? After all the saving for the deposit which was handed over in good faith. Although would you want to be one of a few owner occupiers surrounded by the unknown quantity of these migrant men.
GB News said this is the first case they have heard about of a whole new block of apartments being made over entirely to the Home Office for migrants. They have it for 18 months, maybe two years initially. King William Court will need refurbishing completely throughout afterwards and can’t really be marketed even then as ‘brand new’. The money involved must be a tidy sum.
