The terror group Palestine Action was declared such and proscribed for that reason in July; the final action of the group that promoted this was their breaking into RAF Brize Norton and attacking (but not fully destroying) military aircraft. Previous attacks have incuded the Eblit Systems component factories and Local Government buildings. Some attacks have been made in cahoots with Extinction Rebellion and/or Animal Rebellion. There is quite a bit of overlap between these destructive forces. I sense the same hand behind them.
Since then they have held several demonstrations in Parliament Square and elsewhere and over 1600 people have been arrested for showing overt support for what is now officially a terrorist group.
There is another such rally planning for this afternoon. Which two days after the terror attack on the Heaton Park synagogue and the deaths and injury to worshippers is, in British understatement, beyond bad taste.
The great and good, Shabana Mahmood the Home Secretary, the Prime minister, the Metropolitan Police, even the leader of the green party have asked the group to cancel. The only person of note who has declined to ask is Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.
Sir Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, refused to endorse calls to halt the protest, but urged protesters to be “mindful” of the terror attack. “Sadiq has always said that protest is a fundamental cornerstone of democracy – but must be peaceful, lawful and safe,” a spokesman for the Mayor said.
“He urges those considering protesting tomorrow to be mindful of the appalling terror attack this week, which has devastated our frightened Jewish communities – we all have a responsibility to consider how our words and actions make others feel.”
This is the letter written by the Assistant Commisioner Ade Adelekan begging them to reconsider.

But not enough of the ‘pretty please’ to persuade.

Effectively if you need your police officers elsewhere, let us go about our activities unmolested. I’m not sure why they have chosen ‘Defend our Juries’ as a cover name (like Anjem Choudary’s numerous terror groups a name change pretends they are a new group) ; nothing about their proscription indicates loss of right to Trial by Jury. Maybe that is what they are tring to imply. Extinction Rebellion became ‘Youth Demand’ for a period by the same reasoning.
So this afternoons rally will go ahead. And the people arrested, sitting cross-legged holding a piece of cardboard upon which is written the words “I support Palestine Action” will not be the vandals, the men and women of violence who smash up aeroplanes and the livelihood of British workers. They won’t be the shadowy figures who manipulate and pull the strings from their HQ in Qatar, or Riyadah, or where ever else they are holed up.

They will be daft and silly retired teachers (I know of some of them, sadly) and aged librarians, superannuated social workers, maybe even a clergywoman or two.

The idea being that the sight of well-meaning pensioners being carried away by big nasty policemen will sway public opinion in their favour. I don’t think it has been successful in that.
Like the children and hospital patients of Gaza, and the hostages in the tunnels they are being used and abused. Unlike the children and hostages they are mental captives, who could one day walk away.

Before the terror attack in Manchester Palestine Action were expecting to exceed their arrest record according to the Guardian; 1500 people pledged to attend and more expected. We’ll see how the useful idiot human shields feel this mornng.
It won’t end well.

Good point – a reporter at the protest noted the same – older respectable people intentionally getting arrested with signs for Palestine Action https://www.gbnews.com/news/pro-palestine-protester-gb-news-dougie-beattie-snubbed rather than the young, where most are simply marching. Defend Our Juries, which the media never actually suggests is Palestine Action, clearly want to manage how the arrests are preceived to carry as much sympathy as possible.
No fool like an old fool.
