He’s excitable, and apparently hasn’t been able to sit still long enough to read — read, for example, Bat Ye’or’s “Islam and Dhimmitude.” Had he done so, he might not be so ready to exclude an alliance with the Front National, a political movement which, he may not have noticed, is the only one calling for a halt to Muslim immigration, and perhaps is the only one capable of creating, in France, the conditions which will discourage, and make much more difficult, the observance of Islam. The RPM could have done that, could still do it, but if it is unwilling to do so, why should people not support the FN which, Sarkozy also may not have noticed, is run not by the intoleralbe Jean-Marie Le Pen, but by his daughter, who is very different.
