Sisi Will Reply To The Islamic State In Libya As He Sees Fit

Al-Sisi here.

And he should be given all the  Western support, including intelligence information, that might be useful in such an effort. Ideally, the Egyptian army would smash not only the Islamic State supporters, but also the local militias opposed to General Haftar. The Egyptians can help his forces to impose an enlightened despotism, one that will impose some kind of order, and will also collaborate with the Italians to ensure that the traffickers who attempt to smuggle people into Europe from Libyan ports are stopped, their boats sunk, and they themselves put permanently out of commission. That would be a great achievement.

  1. I suspect that if the victims of the recent mass beheadings in Libya had been Muslim instead of Coptic, we would be seeing some mighty big mass demonstrations on the streets of Cairo right now. Of course, as in Jordan, it would not have been outrage based on principle. None of this is Sisi’s doing. He can only do so much with a population steeped in the ideology of Islam.
