Our rape gang inquiry released a statement this morning detailing the most brutal suffering anyone could imagine on an innocent young woman – if you have not read it, I urge you to go and digest it. People need to understand what has happened, and is still happening. I sat for two hours, listening to that brave woman. It was one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. Before our hearings, I did not think it was possible for one human to inflict such evil onto another human. It is. We have requested a meeting with the Home Secretary, so that Mahmood can hear what we have heard. So that she can finally understand. I sincerely hope she accepts.
This is the statement.
In a 32 year career in what is now the Ministry of Justice I heard of some terrible things. This has to rank among the worst.
Some are saying on X; don’t rely on a single witness. Except sometimes a single witness is all we have. This is not sharia law where a woman’s evidence is only worth half that of a man. Where rape needs 4 witnesses to prove it.
Even if the police do not want to pursue the use of torture and beastiality this young woman has information about 3 murders. Girls, people of all ages go missing frequently and are often not found. Just because there isn’t a body with a dagger to the heart doesn’t mean there wasn’t a killing.
The statement says that they have found the witness to be consistent and they take her allegations seriously. I hope Shabana Maboob does grant them an appointment.
