Two Jewish men stabbed outside Golders Green synagogue

From the Telegraph and the Campaign Agaisnt Antisemitism

a Jewish man was stabbed at a bus stop in Golders Green on Wednesday morning.

The CCTV footage shows the victim standing alone and looking at the road before he is attacked by the knifeman.

The suspect was later detained and arrested.

This morning’s stabbing unfolded on Golders Green Road in north London.

It is believed part of the attack took place outside Hagers Shul synagogue, where a huge police cordon remains.

The suspect was then seen running along Golders Green Road towards a bus stop where another man was attacked, according to Campaign Against Antisemitism, a charity.

@ShomrimLondon, the Jewish community’s volunteer-led neighbourhood watch patrol, immobilised the suspect with a vehicle and detained him until police arrived. We are told that @MetPoliceUK deployed a taser and arrested the suspect. The two victims were treated on the scene by @Hatzola, the local Jewish community’s volunteer-led emergency medical response charity.

Here is the statement from the Met Police:

At 11:16hrs on Wednesday 29 April, officers responded following reports of people stabbed in Highfield Avenue. Local officers and armed officers attended, alongside the London Ambulance Service.

The suspect also attempted to stab police officers, and was Tasered before being arrested. No officers were injured.

Two men – one in his 70s and one in his 30s – were treated at the scene for stab wounds. They have been taken to hospital and both are in a stable condition.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken into custody, where he remains. We are working to establish his nationality and background.

Specialist officers from Counter Terrorism Policing are leading the investigation and working with the Metropolitan Police to establish the full circumstances and any links to terrorism.
