Two men charged with plotting to carry out an Islamic State-inspired gun attack on the Jewish community in the North West have appeared in court today ahead of a trial later this year.
Walid Saadaoui, 37, of Crankwood Road, Abram, Wigan, and Amar Hussein, 51, of no fixed abode, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court via videolink today (Monday June 23, 2025).
At a hearing in December, they pleaded not guilty to preparation of terrorist acts,
A third co-defendant, Walid’s brother, Bilel Saadaoui, 36, from Hindley, Wigan, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of failing to disclose acts of terrorism
At today’s hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, after administrative matters which cannot be reported were
discussed, the trial judge Mr Justice Wall adjourned the case until October 7.
Bilel Saadaoui was released on bail while the other two defendants were remanded in custody.
The trial is now set to begin at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, October 7 and is expected to last around 20 weeks.
