US election: Donald Trump elected president of United States

From Sky News latest

Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States after Hillary Clinton called him to concede.

The billionaire is on stage in New York giving a victory speech after clinching swing states such as Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.

As fans chanted “USA, USA”, he told his supporters: “I have just received a call from Secretary Clinton. She congratulated us on our victory and I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign.”

Mr Trump said he was “reaching out” to those who did not support him. “The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer,” he added.

Clinton supporters were seen stony-faced or crying at what was supposed to be her victory rally in New York before being sent home by her campaign manager

To quote Nigel Farage “I thought Brexit was big, this is bigger” More later, and from those closer to the campaign. Congratulations.

  1. Astonishing news, and warm congratulations. Citizens of the United States voted against a failing ideologically liberal status quo. Donald Trump will be a timely breath of fresh air.
