Arab Muslims Rape, And Kill, Non-Arab Muslims In Darfur

For several decades the Muslim Arabs (that is, they think of themselves as Arabs) of what is now Sudan raped, killed, enslaved the black African Christians and animists of what is now the country of South Sudan. It took a long while to get the West’s attention. For some reason, when the Muslim Arabs began to pillage, loot, destroy, rape, and kill, in that region of Sudan inhabited by black African Muslims, the West paid attention sooner. And now, because the oil revenues that the Muslim Arab regime in Khartoum used to count on now must be shared with South Sudan (where most of the oil is located), that regime has begun to rely on the gold found in Darfur (Dar Fur in the older literature), and continues, as this article in The New York Times today makes clear, to rape, pillage, kill the non-Arab, black African Muslims. The article will get attention, because one of its co-authors is George Clooney.

The mistreatment, by Arab Muslims, of all non-Arab Muslims, is a theme that has to be taken up, and amplified. It is one way to weaken the hold of Islam on the non-Arabs. The examples of the Kurds, 182,000 of whom were killled by the Arabs of Saddam Hussein, and there was not a syllable of protest from any Arab ruler or regime or intellectual. The Iraqi writer Kanan Makiya, now enjoying a sinecure at Brandeis (to study the regime of Saddam Hussein based on documents seized in Iraq by the American military) wrote about the failure of the Arabs to protest this mass murder. But neither in his books, nor in the last decade, has Kanan Makiya been able to publicly identify the reason: that Islam is, has always been, and always will be a vehicle for Arab supremacism, and it is not surprising that the Arabs who ruled Iraq would deny Kurds autonomy, or full rights in the sharing of resources (the oil of Kurdistan), that the Berbers would have been denied the right to use the Berber language or maintain their (less ferociously Muslim) Berber culture in Algeria, or that the black African Muslims in Darfur would suffer, as the article makes clear, from decades of unstoppable Arab depredations.

The late Anwar Shaikh, a Pakistani who ended up in Wales, once wrote a book — Islam — The Arab National Religion. It’s a book that deserves to be re-printed. If our government were more intelligent, it would see to it that such a book was reprinted by the tens of millions of copies, the way it did with anti-Communist works during the Cold War.
