The Lone Soldiers Of Israel

Here.

It’s that phrase — “Lone Soldier” — referring to those who come, who volunteer for the Israel Defense Forces, whose families, if they have families, are elsewhere, that is so moving, even haunting. After all, it echoes one’s sense that, in the end,  Israel is a Lone Country, or a country alone, or something. I’m not sure how to express this adequately, it would take a long time, but you know what I mean. And you can still be kind, and eke out my performance with your mind.
