Architectural Dystopia

Esteemed architectural historian James Stevens Curl, author of Making Dystopia: The Strange Rise and Survival of Architectural Barbarism, contributed this superb essay in January: Modern Architecture’s Disastrous Legacy.  This month, he has a fascinating piece in Prospect Magazine, debating whether brutalist modern architecture has ruined Britain. Make sure you read it and cast your vote!

  1. Professor Stevens Curl’s reputation was set in stone in a Daily Mail article on the 11th of February, 2010: “Professor Curl is our nation’s leading expert on this period of British architecture, so he is a man to be taken seriously”. I’ve read his books and loved them all. Good luck to our nation’s leading expert.
