–
The pronatalist eugenicists
Seek to conquer the world
Through their progeny,
Weaponizing fertility.
–
The Christian husband and his wife
Are bidden to raise up
Children for the Kingdom,
Replacing the fallen angels.
–
The monastic family resembles
More perfectly the hosts
Of angels, whose eyes see
Only God, who multiply
Apart from burning passion.
–
The Isle of Thanet in the land of Kent
Became such an holy habitation,
Its marches fixed by the walking of a doe,
Ruled by the holy maidens
Ermenburgh, Mildred, and Edburga.
–
In what is the hope of the West
If not in these humble hearts
And lowly abodes,
Spurning everything earthly,
Even the ties of natural family,
To gain an inheritance
That will never crumble nor decay
And kinsman who will never die?
–
There do we see the image of God in man
Restored, shining in radiant glory,
The Gospel lived in all its fulness,
The dwelling of God
With man on earth once again.
–
But modern Western man
Burning with pride Promethean
Yearns to darken what he can
With in-vitro fertilization,
Genetic manipulation,
And excess embryo destruction.
