Georges Loinger was a hero of the Resistance who saved many French Jews. He came from Alsace; he had listened to the German radio; he had talked to those who managed to get across the border; he knew what was coming; he was ready when trouble came.
A report on Georges Loinger and others here.
His summing-up of those days is monitory and relevant:
“The 1930s were a lesson that I have not forgotten to this day,” Loinger said. “You always have to face reality and be prepared.”
