If he did this with the State of Vermont, what has he done with the other states he’s billed? And what about the bills to the Federal Government? Just how much has he been charging, for how many hours of work, and performed by whom, during the past year or two? Where are the investigative journalists who will make this the object of their study?
And why should he not be made to disgorge whatever he unjustly enriched himself by? And pay a penalty too? Will “to gruberize” become a verb, applied to all those “consultants” who charge cities, states, the Federal government, gigantic hourly rates, and unfathomable numbers of hours worked? You may think back to Professor Laurence Tribe, and his fantastic over-charging in the Grendel’s Den case. Or perhaps you have a favorite candidate of your own. There are so many.
