Man Sentenced to Prison for Planning Terrorist Attack at Camp Nou Stadium

The only English reports of this that I can find are two Spanish football magazines, and a tweet from Barcelona Football Club, on their English language account.

From Sports Brief and Football Espania

An ISIS fanatic man has been sentenced to three years’ jail time for planning a terrorist attack on Camp Nou. Mohammed Yassin Amrani admitted he collaborated with the militant Islamist group to plan an explosive attack during a Barcelona-Real Madrid match.

Mohammed Yassin Amrani was accused of collaborating with the Islamic State (DAESH/ISIS) to attack the Camp Nou, with a drone containing an explosive, during an El Clasico game against Real Madrid.

Amrani accepted two charges by the Spanish National High Court relating to self-training and self indoctrination before sentencing. The public prosecutors office initially pushed for a sentence of nine years, due to the connection with an active terrorist organisation, Mr Amrani was proven to have began a process of self radicalisation in 2020 with prosecutors referring to his online activity as proof of his plans to launch an attack.

Messages were also read out in court which indicated direct communication with DAESH/ISIS operatives in relation to carrying out a drone strike in Catalonia.

Barcelona supporters are not impressed with the leniency of the sentence.  I think “Patetico” is self explanatory.

“just three years, wtf?”
